What do like most about playing at SXSW?
Well, we just had a record snow storm up here in Pennsylvania. I've been stuck in my house for over a week. I never realized how much I hated the winter till this year. All I'm thinking about is getting down to that weather. That and a slice of Heavy Metal pizza with jalapenos on it.

Are you out promoting anything?
Yes. We are promoting our debut album Born and Thrown on a Hook. It comes out on March 23rd, just two days after the end of the festival. We are super super proud of this record. The album isn't just a collection of songs. It's a full on experience that we can't wait to get it into people's hands.

Are there any bands or musicians that you are looking forward to checking out?
If this years SXSW is anything like last years I don't think we are going to have much time to check out other bands. Even though you might have "only" 3-6 shows going on in the few days you are at the festival there is so much stuff going on behind the scenes that you hardly have a second to really enjoy yourself. Interviews, taping exclusive videos, meeting up with people on your team from overseas who you don't get to see that often. It's hectic.

What are the challenges in playing at SXSW?
I think I summed up the biggest challenge the festival presents with my answer to your last question. Everything is just so hectic. Getting from place to place on time and loading all of your equipment in. The parking situation is more cutthroat than NYC. Oh yeah, and "Ah crap, is that my amp or that other guys amp? Is that my guitar case or his guitar case?". You get the idea...

Do you have any survival tips?
Kick everyone out of your band and become an solo acoustic artist for the duration of the festival.

Are you more "stick around, check out music and enjoy the scene" or "play as many shows as possible then get out"?
Definitely the latter. We are going to South by to promote the hell out of our debut album. I have the rest of the year to check out other bands. Job number one at SXSW is getting our music into every ear possible.

Any additional comments?
We are releasing a series of live home recordings of each track off of our debut album, in order, every Tuesday until it drops on March 23rd. All of the recordings and videos are compelling. Some of them are close to the album versions, some of them are completely different. You can check every Tuesday to catch the latest video. An archive and advent style calendar of all the videos can be found at Thank you for your time.
